Heartland Indie Bestseller List

The Heartland Indie Bestseller List demonstrates the influence our stores have on what books are selling across the country every week. This bestseller list is a joint effort brought to you by independent booksellers of MIBA, the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association, and the American Booksellers Association.

The list is emailed directly to nearly 1,500 recipients throughout the industry every Wednesday afternoon.

Here’s the most recent list: Week ending April 22, 2012

Bookseller Karin Kimble and Valley Bookseller in Stillwater, MN, says the following.

”We have a section in the store where the top 15 fiction and nonfiction, hardcover, and trade paper titles from the Heartland Indie Bestseller List are featured as Notable books. In the trade paper section, both fiction and nonfiction especially, this generates terrific sales for us. Customers see that display as they enter the front door. It’s almost a daily task to refill those shelves. The Heartland list reflects the interests of our customers better than the NYT or West coast lists.”

The Heartland Indie Bestseller List is based on the National Indie Bestseller List. IndieBound also provides subject category bestseller lists and the monthly IndieNext lists, with recommendations from hundreds of independent booksellers across the country.

Additional information about the National Indie Bestseller List and Indie Next List also can be found at the websites of the American Booksellers Association: www.bookweb.org and www.indiebound.org.
